A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HOLMES COMMUNITY COLLEGE "LADY BULLDOGS" SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH MATT CONVERTINO FOR THEIR 2019 MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND THEIR 2019 NATIONAL JUNIOR COLLEGE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, we join the team members, coaches, faculty, administrators and students of Holmes Community College in honoring the outstanding championship season of the 2019 "Lady Bulldogs" Women's Soccer Team; and
WHEREAS, this year the soccer team won the following: 2019 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Champions,
2019 National Junior College Athletic Association Region XXIII Champions and 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association District H Finalists; and
WHEREAS, other accomplishments in 2019 include: 18-3 overall, 7-1 in the North Division, 4th Straight North Division Champion (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019), nationally ranked in the top 20 for the entire season, most amount of goals scored by a team in Holmes Community College history (115 goals), All-Time Leading Goal Scorer in Holmes Community College History (2019) Cariel Ellis and All-Time Leading Assist Holder in Holmes Community College History(2019) Mackenzie Thompson; and
WHEREAS, the 2019 Holmes Community College Women's Soccer Team Championship Roster: Kennedi Richardson, Carly Williams, Bailey Thompson, Casey Rhone, Angel Cummings, Jocelyn Fernandez, Lainee Chandler, Caseigh Hickman, Reagan Savell, Isabella Wade, Hannah Dowty, Halleigh Steed, Laney Smith, Kya Davis, Anna King, Ja'Laycia Brown, Peyton Montgomery, Cameron Gladney, Zoe Ellis, Elizabeth Jackson, Alysia Terry, Mackenzie Thompson, Cariel Ellis and Head Coach Matt Convertino; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the accomplishments of these student athletes who have brought honor to their college, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Holmes Community College "Lady Bulldogs" Soccer Team and Head Coach Matt Convertino for their 2019 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges State Championship and their 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association Regional Championship, and we extend the best wishes of the Mississippi Senate to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Matt Convertino and Holmes Community College President Dr. Jim Haffey, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of Holmes Community College and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
