A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE reed gold mine FUND IN THE DIVISION OF STATE HISTORIC SITES.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Article 1 of Chapter 121 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 121‑7.6.  Reed Gold Mine Fund.

(a)        Fund. – The Reed Gold Mine Fund is created as a special fund in the Department of Cultural Resources, Division of State Historic Sites. The interest earned by the Fund shall be credited to the Fund by the State Treasurer pursuant to G.S. 147‑69.2 and G.S. 147‑69.3. The Fund shall be used for operation, interpretation, maintenance, preservation, development, and expansion at the Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site.

(b)        Disposition of Fees. – Notwithstanding Chapter 146 of the General Statutes, all receipts derived from admissions, fees, and donations, as well as the lease, rental, or other disposition of structures or products of the land owned by or under the supervision or control of the Division of Historic Sites in Cabarrus County shall be credited to the Fund.

(c)        The monies credited to this Fund pursuant to this section are annually appropriated to the Department of Cultural Resources."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
