A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to authorize the division of motor vehicles to produce a silver star Award/Disabled Veteran Special Plate.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 20‑79.4(b) reads as rewritten:

"(b)      Types. – The Division shall issue the following types of special registration plates:

(129a)  Silver Star Recipient/Disabled Veteran. – Issuable to a recipient of the Silver Star who is also a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States who suffered a one hundred percent (100%) service‑connected disability. The plate shall bear the emblem of the Silver Star laid over the universal symbol for the handicapped and the words "Silver Star." For the purposes of a fee for this plate, it shall be treated as a one hundred percent (100%) Disabled Veteran plate.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
