A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to repeal the law that authorizes in‑state tuition status for out‑of‑state students who are awarded full scholarships.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 116‑143.6 is repealed.

SECTION 2.  The repeal of G.S. 116‑143.6 by Section 1 of this act does not affect the receipt of full scholarships by students who received the scholarships prior to the effective date except as follows:  a student's eligibility for in‑State tuition provided pursuant to G.S. 116‑143.6 is limited to a cumulative total of eight academic semesters.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
