A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for the north carolina food banks.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund or from any available federal Block Grant funds to the Department of Health and Human Services the sum of four million dollars ($4,000,000) for the 2013‑2014 fiscal year and the sum of four million dollars ($4,000,000) for the 2014‑2015 fiscal year to provide additional funding to the North Carolina food banks. These funds shall be allocated equally among the following:

(1)        MANNA Food Bank (Asheville).

(2)        Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (Charlotte).

(3)        The Food Bank of the Albemarle (Elizabeth City).

(4)        The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina (Fayetteville).

(5)        The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina (Raleigh).

(6)        Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina (Winston‑Salem).

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2013.
