A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT amending the charter of the city of brevard to authorize the city manager to appoint the city clerk.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Section 4.4 of the Charter of the City of Brevard, being Chapter 415 of the 1981 Session Laws, reads as rewritten:

"Sec. 4.4. City Clerk. The City CouncilCity Manager shall appoint a City Clerk to keep a journal of the proceedings of the Council, to maintain in a safe place all records and documents pertaining to the affairs of the City, and to perform such other duties as may be required by law or as the City CouncilCity Manager may direct. The City Clerk shall receive such compensation as the Council City Manager shall determine."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
