A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to create an experimental program in which the city of greensboro is given a limited exemption from the requirement that beavers taken under a depredation permit must be euthanized or released on the property where captured and the City is authorized to relocate those beavers to a suitable alternative habitat.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of 15A NCAC 10B.0106(d)(5) or any other provision of law, there is established an experimental program in which the City of Greensboro may relocate beavers that have been taken alive under a depredation permit along Buffalo Creek to a suitable alternative habitat along Buffalo Creek with the consent of the landowner of that new habitat.

SECTION 2.  This act applies only to depredation permits issued to the City of Greensboro.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law and expires July 1, 2011.
