     Permits school participating in NJ "Farm to School" program to submit recipe for posting on Department of Agriculture website.

An Act concerning the New Jersey "Farm to School" program, and supplementing Title 4 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  The Department of Agriculture shall accept and post on its website recipes submitted to the department by any public or nonpublic school that participates in the New Jersey "Farm to School" program.  All recipes submitted to and accepted by the department shall include a food item made from a farm to school product.  Recipes approved by the department shall be included in an electronic Farm to School Cookbook made available on the department's website.

     b.    The Department of Agriculture shall develop procedures necessary to effectuate the purposes of this act.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill directs the Department of Agriculture to accept and post on its website recipes submitted to the department by any public or nonpublic school that participates in the New Jersey "Farm to School" program.  The bill requires that all recipes submitted to and accepted by the department must include a food item made from a farm to school product.  Recipes that are approved by the department must be included in an electronic Farm to School Cookbook made available on the department's website.  The Department of Agriculture is also required to develop procedures necessary to effectuate the purposes of this bill.
