STATEMENT

P.L.2018, c.67 (C.18A:7F-67 et al.) established a mechanism for allocating State school aid from the 2019-2020 through 2024-2025 school years. Under that law, a State aid differential is calculated for each school district.  In the case of a school district in which the State aid differential is negative, the district will receive an increase in State aid. In the case of a school district in which the State aid differential is positive, the district will receive a reduction in State aid.

This bill addresses the situation of school districts that will receive a reduction in State aid under P.L.2018, c.67 (C.18A:7F-67 et al.) by providing that such districts will receive in the 2019-2020 school year and in each subsequent school year, the greater of the amount of State aid calculated pursuant to the provisions of that act or the amount of State aid that the district received in the 2017-2018 school year.
