       AN ACT to amend the public health  law,  in  relation  to  admission  of
         patients in need of emergency medical care
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 2805-b of the  public  health  law  is  amended  by
    2  adding a new subdivision 4-a to read as follows:
    3    4-A.  NO  ATTENDING  PHYSICIAN  SHALL BE PREVENTED FROM ADMITTING TO A
    4  GENERAL HOSPITAL, AS A PATIENT, ANY PERSON ARRIVING AT THE HOSPITAL  FOR
    5  EMERGENCY  TREATMENT  IF SUCH ATTENDING PHYSICIAN DETERMINES THAT ADMIT-
    6  TANCE OF SUCH PERSON IS REQUIRED FOR CARE.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    8  it shall have become a law.
