        AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating the  "Atomic
          Veterans Memorial Bridge"

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-m to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 344-m. Portion of state highway  system  to  be  designated  as  the
     4  "Atomic  Veterans  Memorial  Bridge".   The pedestrian bridge across the
     5  Taconic State Parkway, in the town of Yorktown, county  of  Westchester,
     6  shall be designated and known as the "Atomic Veterans Memorial Bridge".
     7    § 2.  The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
     8  lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
     9  as designated pursuant to section one of this  act.  However,  to  avoid
    10  confusion  and  to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig-
    11  nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall  be  one  of
    12  ceremonial  nature  and  the  official  name of such bridge shall not be
    13  changed as a result of this act.
    14    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
