        AN ACT in relation to  authorizing  the  commissioner  of  education  to
          conduct a study regarding courses of study on the Holocaust within the
          state
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The commissioner of education is authorized and directed to
     2  conduct a study regarding courses of study on the Holocaust  within  the
     3  state.  Such  study  shall  focus  on identifying which school districts
     4  subject to section eight hundred one of the education law offer a course
     5  of information on the Holocaust.
     6    § 2. A report of the findings of such study and recommendations of the
     7  commissioner of education shall be delivered to the governor, the tempo-
     8  rary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, the  minority
     9  leader  of  the senate and the minority leader of the assembly the first
    10  of January following the effective date of this act.
    11    § 3. The commissioner of education  shall  promulgate  regulations  to
    12  ensure  instruction  on  the  Holocaust  is  provided  at all schools in
    13  compliance with section eight hundred one of the education law.
    14    § 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
