BYRNE, D'URSO, MORINELLO, BRABENEC, RAIA, DiPIE- TRO, RA, McDONOUGH, M. L. MILLER, BLANKENBUSH, ARROYO, B. MILLER, MIKULIN, SMITH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transpor- tation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to codifying distinctive plates for emergency medical technicians and eliminating the annual service charge for such plates The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new 2 section 404-ff to read as follows: 3 § 404-ff. Distinctive plates for emergency medical technicians. 1. 4 Any emergency medical technicians residing in this state shall, upon 5 request, be issued a license plate bearing the words "Emergency Medical 6 Technician". Application for said license plate shall be filed with the 7 commissioner in such form and detail as the commissioner shall 8 prescribe. 9 2. The distinctive plate authorized herein shall be issued upon proof, 10 satisfactory to the commissioner, that the applicant is an emergency 11 medical technician. 12 3. A distinctive plate issued pursuant to this section shall be issued 13 in the same manner as other number plates upon payment of the sixty 14 dollar registration fee, provided, however, that no annual service 15 charge shall be charged for such plate. 16 § 2. Distinctive plates issued prior to the effective date of this act 17 bearing the words "Emergency Medical Technician" shall be considered to 18 have been issued under section 404-ff of the vehicle and traffic law and 19 all such plates issued after the effective date of this act shall be 20 issued with the same issuance requirements, fees, and service charges as 21 a plate issued under such section. 22 § 3.
