        AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to  certain  requirements
          when substitute drug products are dispensed
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subdivision 1 of  section  6816-a  of  the
     2  education  law,  as added by chapter 776 of the laws of 1977, is amended
     3  to read as follows:
     4    (c) The pharmacist shall indicate on the label affixed to the  immedi-
     5  ate  container  in  which  the  drug  is  sold or dispensed the name and
     6  strength of the drug product and its manufacturer unless the  prescriber
     7  specifically states otherwise, and shall also indicate the brand name of
     8  the  drug  prescribed.  The  pharmacist shall record on the prescription
     9  form the brand name or the name of the manufacturer of the drug  product
    10  dispensed.
    11    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
    12  have become a law.
