        AN  ACT  to  amend  the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to required
          vehicle marking
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  507 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows:
     3    6. Required vehicle marking. (a) All motor vehicles used by any  indi-
     4  vidual  with  a probationary license, as defined in section five hundred
     5  one of this article, a class DJ license, or a limited class DJ  license,
     6  shall  be  required  to  have  non  permanent  signage  on their vehicle
     7  containing the words "NEW DRIVER."
     8    (b) The commissioner is directed to promulgate rules  and  regulations
     9  regarding the size, placement, color and use of such signage.
    10    (c)  In the event that an individual is found guilty of not using such
    11  signage, the probationary period of the individual's  license  shall  be
    12  extended for three months for every conviction of this subdivision.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    14  it shall have become a law.
