CRESPO, DE LA ROSA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the powers and duties of the city board The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (h) of subdivision 1 of section 2590-g of the 2 education law, as added by chapter 345 of the laws of 2009, is amended 3 to read as follows: 4 (h) approve proposals for all school closures or significant changes 5 in school utilization including the phase-out, grade reconfiguration, 6 re-siting, or co-location of schools, following any hearing pursuant to 7 subdivision two-a of section twenty-five hundred ninety-h of this arti- 8 cle. Any vote by the board approving a proposed co-location of a school 9 shall be held in the same borough as the proposed co-location. 10 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately, provided, however, that 11 the amendments to paragraph (h) of subdivision 1 of section 2590-g of 12 the education law made by section one of this act shall survive the 13 expiration and reversion of such section as provided in section 34 of 14 chapter 91 of the laws of 2002, as amended.
