TITONE, HOOPER, PERRY -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. McDONOUGH, SIMANOWITZ -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Veterans' Affairs AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to providing free use of state parks for veterans and surviv- ing spouses or domestic partners of those killed in combat The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The parks, recreation and historic preservation law is 2 amended by adding a new section 13.22 to read as follows: 3 § 13.22 Free use of state parks. Notwithstanding the provisions of 4 any other law, any person who is a resident of New York state, who 5 served in the armed forces of the United States during a time of war, as 6 defined in paragraph (c) of subdivision one of section eighty-five of 7 the civil service law or the surviving spouse or domestic partner of 8 deceased military personnel who were killed in combat or duty subject to 9 hostile fire or imminent danger, as defined in 37 USC § 310(a)(4), shall 10 be permitted to use any of the state parks in this state, upon the same 11 terms and conditions as apply to the general public, but without the 12 payment of any fees or other charges for the use of such state parks. 13 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after 14 it shall have become a law; provided, however, that effective immediate- 15 ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation 16 necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date is 17 authorized and directed to be made and completed on or before such 18 effective date.
