        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  dashboard
          cameras on sanitation vehicles
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 53 to read as follows:
     3    53.  A vehicle operated for the purpose of providing solid, hazardous,
     4  or medical waste collection, recycling or  disposal  services  shall  be
     5  equipped  with  an  operating  dashboard  camera.  Such  camera shall be
     6  recording at all times such vehicle is being operated for the purpose of
     7  providing solid, hazardous, or medical waste  collection,  recycling  or
     8  disposal services. The video recording of such dashboard camera shall be
     9  preserved  by the owner of such sanitation vehicle for a period of four-
    10  teen days after the date it is recorded. The provisions of this subdivi-
    11  sion shall not apply to vehicles owned or operated by  a  county,  city,
    12  town, village or a political subdivision of the state.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
