        AN ACT to authorize the town of Brookhaven to extend the  boundaries  of
          the Rocky Point fire district to include the village of Shoreham

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of article 11 of the town law
     2  to the contrary, upon the expiration of the contract between the village
     3  of Shoreham, in  the  county  of  Suffolk,  and  the  Rocky  Point  fire
     4  district,  providing  for fire protection and emergency response by such
     5  fire district within such village, the town board of the town of  Brook-
     6  haven  is authorized, in accordance with the provisions of subdivision 2
     7  of section 170 of the town law, to extend the boundaries  of  the  Rocky
     8  Point  fire  district to include the village of Shoreham in its entirety
     9  for the purposes of providing fire  protection  and  emergency  response
    10  within such village.
    11    § 2. Upon the extension by the town board of the town of Brookhaven of
    12  the  Rocky  Point  fire  district to include the village of Shoreham, in
    13  accordance with section one of this act, such  fire  district  and  town
    14  board  shall be subject to the provisions of article 11 of the town law,
    15  and shall continue to have all powers, duties and responsibilities vest-
    16  ed in and imposed upon such districts and towns pursuant to  such  arti-
    17  cle, and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto.
    18    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
