          tee on Education

        AN ACT to amend the education  law,  in  relation  to  suspending  state
          assessments during a state disaster emergency

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 305 of the education law is amending  by  adding  a
     2  new subdivision 59 to read as follows:
     3    59.  Whenever a state disaster emergency is declared pursuant to arti-
     4  cle two-B of the  executive  law,  the  commissioner  shall  immediately
     5  suspend  all  state  assessments. Such suspension shall remain in effect
     6  for a period of thirty days after  such  state  disaster  emergency  has
     7  ended.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
