STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 11302 IN ASSEMBLY August 15, 2018 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Gunther) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT directing the public service commission to study the feasibility of a municipal broadband program within the state The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The chair of the public service commission shall study and 2 evaluate the feasibility of a municipal broadband program. 3 § 2. The public service commission shall evaluate such data with the 4 assistance of experts in: 5 a. internet speed; 6 b. telecommunications; and 7 c. broadband infrastructure. 8 § 3. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, the 9 public service commission shall submit to the governor and the legisla- 10 ture a report on the feasibility of a municipal broadband program within 11 the state. 12 § 4.
