        HONORING  Gloria  Baca  upon  the  occasion of her
        designation as recipient of the INNOVATOR  AWARD  by
        the Girl Scouts of Nassau County

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the  maintenance  of  high  standards  in  their
profession,  certainly  have  earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Gloria  Baca  upon  the  occasion of her designation as recipient of the
INNOVATOR AWARD by the Girl Scouts of Nassau County to be celebrated  at
its  100th  Anniversary  Gala on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at The Garden
City Hotel, Garden City, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. serves girls and  adults
in  Nassau  County,  New  York,  a  suburban community of New York City;
programs and girl-led community service opportunities  engage  girls  in
discovering  themselves,  connecting  with  others, and taking action to
make the world a better place; and

  WHEREAS, After arriving in the United States from Peru at the age of
17, Gloria Baca attended SUNY at Stony Brook and New York  Institute  of
Technology,  where she obtained both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in
Communications; and

  WHEREAS, Gloria Baca began her illustrious career as  an  intern  at
"CBS  Newspath" and in the production department of NBC's renowned show,
"Dateline"; she went on to become Manager  of  Broadcast  Operations  at
Medialink, and in 2002, she took the position of Client Services Manager
for the newly launched National Hispanic Services; and

  WHEREAS,   With   a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment  to  her
community, Gloria Baca is an active member of the  Adelante  of  Suffolk
County's  Puerto Rican/Hispanic Day Parade, Adelante's Hispanic Heritage
Month Celebrations, the  Traveling  Hispanic  Theater,  and  the  Nassau
County  Commission  of  Human Rights' Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration
Committee; and

  WHEREAS, In addition, she is a member of the Girl Scouts  of  Nassau
County's Hispanic/Latino Task Force; and

  WHEREAS,  Gloria  Baca  currently  serves  as  Director  of Business
Development at Boulevard Home Care Associates;  in  this  capacity,  she
leads  the  business  development  department,  increasing the company's
visibility, maintaining partnerships, enrolling new patients on the  HHA
and CDPAP programs, and conducting branding; and

  WHEREAS,  Widely  acknowledged for her contributions to the Hispanic
community of Long  Island,  Gloria  Baca  has  been  recognized  by  the
National  Association  of Puerto Rican/Hispanic Social Workers, Adelante

of Suffolk County, Inc., the Long Island Somas El Futuro Conference, and
the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, among many others; and

  WHEREAS,  With  her  throughout  has  been  her  daughter,  Isabella
Victoria, who has shown her love and support and rejoices  in  her  many
achievements; and

  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which  Gloria  Baca  has  displayed
throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS,  It  has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment  to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this  tribute  to
Gloria  Baca,  that  future  generations  may  know  and  appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent  deeds,  and  the  respect  and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gloria Baca upon the occasion of her designation as  recipient  of
the  INNOVATOR  AWARD  by  the  Girl  Scouts of Nassau County; and be it
further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Gloria Baca.
