        MOURNING  the  death of Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr.,
        Ellenville Village  Manager,  distinguished  citizen
        and dedicated member of his community

  WHEREAS,  It  is  with  profound  sorrow that this Legislative Body,
representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this  day  to
pay  tribute  to  an  eminent man of indomitable dedication whose public
service and countless accomplishments will forever stand as  a  paradigm
and inspiration for others; and

  WHEREAS,  Joseph  P. Stoeckeler, Jr. of Cragsmoor, New York, died on
Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the age of 59; and

  WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father and friend, Joseph P. Stoeckeler,
Jr.  was born on April 25, 1960, in Kingston,  New  York,  to  the  late
Joseph  P.    Stoeckeler  Sr.  and  Rose  Marie (Shields) Stoeckeler; he
graduated from Ellenville High School and  furthered  his  education  by
earning  an  Associate's  degree  in Business Administration from Ulster
County Community College,  as  well  as  both  a  Bachelor's  degree  in
Business  Administration  and a Master's degree in Public Administration
from Marist College; and

  WHEREAS, Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr. Joe, a lifetime resident  of  the
Town  of  Wawarsing,  was  a consummate statesman and a dedicated public
servant for most of his adult life; he served as a member of the  Ulster
County  Legislature  from  2004  through  2011,  and  was Wawarsing Town
Supervisor from 1990 to 1994, and again from 1998 to 2000; and

  WHEREAS, A former Village Trustee, Joseph  P.  Stoeckeler,  Jr.  was
serving  as  Ellenville  Village  Manager  at the time of his death, the
esteemed position he has held since 2013; and

  WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Joseph P.    Stoeckeler,
Jr.  was  instrumental  in  the  development  of  Lippman  Park  and  in
spearheading efforts to keep the Ellenville Hospital open; and

  WHEREAS, Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr.'s commitment to  excellence,  and
his  spirit  of  humanity,  carried  over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and

  WHEREAS,  With  a  steadfast  and  unwavering  commitment   to   his
community, Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr. was a member of the Ellenville Elks
Lodge  No.  1971,  Noonday  Club,  Wawarsing  Lodge No. 582 F. and A.M.,
Ellenville-Wawarsing Parks Commission,  Fantinekill  Cemetery  Board  of
Directors,   Governor's   Office  of  Storm  Recovery  New  York  Rising
Committee, Ulster County Board  of  Realtors,  Hudson  Gateway  Multiple
Listing  Service and the Hudson Valley Catskills Region Multiple Listing
Service; and

  WHEREAS, In addition, he was a member and  former  Director  of  the
Ellenville-Wawarsing  Chamber  of  Commerce,  as  well as a Member Third
Degree of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4517; and

  WHEREAS,  Professionally,  Joseph   P.   Stoeckeler,   Jr.   was   a
self-employed  real  estate  broker,  investor and developer, who worked
alongside his father since 1985; he  especially  valued  the  time  they
shared together until his father's passing in November of 2018; and

  WHEREAS,  Joseph  P.  Stoeckeler,  Jr. had a way of making all those
with whom he came in contact feel like a  close  friend,  truly  valuing
each and every relationship he formed; and

  WHEREAS,  An  avid  history  buff who enjoyed sharing his knowledge,
Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr. loved vacationing in  Ormond-by-the-Sea,  long
car  rides,  listening  to music and trips to the ice cream stand; above
all else, he valued his family, spending  time  with  his  children  and
looked forward to cooking holiday dinners at his home; and

  WHEREAS, Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr.'s passing left a huge void in the
Ellenville  community  and in the hearts of all who knew him; he will be
deeply missed and forever loved; and

  WHEREAS, In addition to his parents, Joseph P. Stoeckeler,  Jr.  was
predeceased  by  his  brother,  Paul; he is survived by his wife and the
love of his life,  Theresa;  three  children,  Joseph  (Raechel),  Katie
(Dion) and Erica (Bill) Stoeckeler; Daniel (Lissett) and James; brother,
Michael  (Dawn);  sister, Mona (Brian); cousin, Bill (Holly); his mother
and  father-in-law,  Mary  and  George;  brother-in-law,  John  (Gayle);
nieces,  Kelly,  Lindsey  and  Emily;  nephews, Keith and Mikey; and his
beloved dog, Brody, who brought so much joy to his life; and

  WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a  sense  of
compassion,  Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr. leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a  comforting  memory
to all he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the  death  of  Joseph  P.  Stoeckeler,  Jr.,  Ellenville  Village
Manager,  distinguished  citizen  and dedicated member of his community;
and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to the family of Joseph P. Stoeckeler, Jr.
