Senate Resolution No. 1590 BY: Senator COMRIE HONORING The Reverend Beverly Morrison Caesar upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County, on June 2, 2019 WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the compassion of individuals such as The Reverend Beverly Morrison Caesar who uphold the values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best of humanity; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The Reverend Beverly Morrison Caesar upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County, to be celebrated at its 32nd Annual Black & White Awards Banquet: "Women's Empowerment, Legacy, Reclamation and Renewal" on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and WHEREAS, An ordained minister, Beverly Morrison Caesar is the Associate Pastor of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Queens, New York, where she oversees the women's ministry and heads the Parish Relations ministries, striving to keep the communication lines open between leadership and laity; and WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Pastor Bev, this extraordinary woman founded and directs the Speech Choir, where the Word is expressively recited and delivered in poetic form; she also oversees C.A.R.E., a small group ministry; and WHEREAS, Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar is the founder and director of Arts in Christian Theater (A.C.T.), which produced the blockbuster hit, "The Hedge", and other noteworthy productions; in addition, she opened a theatrical training company, ACTStudios, which provides training for aspiring actors, dancers, poets and singers; and WHEREAS, Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar started inter ACTION galore, a summer program which affords children ages 6-14 the opportunities to not only enjoy the creativity of dance, drama, arts and craft and karate, but to strengthen their academic skills; and WHEREAS, Adding author to her lists of accomplishments, Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar penned the compelling manuscript entitled, Experiencing the 25th Hour; and WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar joined forces with World Vision and began her mission, speaking on behalf of the AIDS pandemic which plagued Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya; through this effort, she was able to encourage hundreds of individuals to become sponsors of young children who had become orphans through this fatal disease; and WHEREAS, Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar formed the Veronica Morrison Foundation, which functions to raise funds through plays, concerts and fashion shows to aid underprivileged women and children nationally and internationally; and WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar, this vital foundation has provided assistance to an orphanage in Uganda; supported two orphans of the Tabernacle Evangelique De Bethel in Port of Prince, Haiti; built two houses through Food For The Poor in Jamaica; donated finances to aid the children of Colombo, Kandy, Talawa, Sri Lanka with book bags filled with school supplies; and provided scholarships for teenagers to go to Christian Camps; and WHEREAS, Beverly Morrison Caesar earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Theology degree from Hunter College and Bethel Bible Institute, respectively; she is currently pursuing her master's degree; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individual for the benefit of others which Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar has displayed throughout her life; and WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 39 years, Bishop Roderick R. Caesar, and their four children Naomi, Lydia, Elizabeth and Roderick III, as well as two granddaughters, Kayliah and Selah Dawn, who have all shown her love and support and rejoice in her many achievements; and WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to Pastor Beverly Morrison Caesar, that future generations may know and appreciate her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor The Reverend Beverly Morrison Caesar upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Queens County, on June 2, 2019; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to The Reverend Beverly Morrison Caesar.
