        COMMEMORATING   the   100th   Anniversary  of  the
        Community Club  of  Garden  City  and  Hempstead  on
        October 3, 2019

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
illustrious individuals and organizations of the State of New York whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance  the  quality  of  life  in  their
communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
commemorate  the  100th Anniversary of the Community Club of Garden City
and Hempstead to be celebrated at an event on Thursday, October 3, 2019,
at the Garden City Casino in Garden City, New York; and

  WHEREAS, The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead is  one  of
the  oldest service clubs on Long Island; it was formed during the World
War I era when the National League for Women's  Service,  the  Hempstead
Women's  Club, the Civics League and other women's clubs united to serve
its community through various cultural, social and civic activities; and

  WHEREAS, Today,  under  the  luminous  leadership  of  co-Presidents
Carolyn  Kaiser  and  Carol Lazar, the Community Club of Garden City and
Hempstead offers studio painting classes, and provides a wide variety of
programs through its music, garden, drama, and Americanism  departments;
and

  WHEREAS,  The  Club's  community service department proudly supports
numerous worthy organizations and services, and presents scholarships to
local students; and

  WHEREAS, The success of  the  Community  Club  of  Garden  City  and
Hempstead  is in direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose
involvement is, and always has  been,  characterized  by  an  impressive
commitment,  an  unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all  endeavors  on  behalf  of  the  institution  and  the
community it serves; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  practice  of  this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to  our
attention,  they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commemorate  the  100th Anniversary of the Community Club of Garden City
and Hempstead on October 3, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That copies of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to Carolyn Kaiser and Carol Lazar, co-Presidents, Community
Club of Garden City and Hempstead.
