        HONORING  James P. Scordo upon the occasion of his
        retirement  after  more  than   three   decades   of
        distinguished  service to the Credo Community Center
        for the Treatment of Addictions

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body   seeks   to   acknowledge   those
individuals  whose  professional  lives  and  civic  endeavors  serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
James  P.  Scordo upon the occasion of his retirement, on June 30, 2019,
after more than three decades of  distinguished  service  to  the  Credo
Community Center for the Treatment of Addictions; and

  WHEREAS,  James P. Scordo's extraordinary accomplishments in helping
those with addictions has earned him  the  gratitude,  appreciation  and
respect of those he assisted; and

  WHEREAS,   James  P.  Scordo  will  be  especially  missed  for  the
professionalism, resourcefulness and effective leadership he continually
exhibited; and

  WHEREAS, James P. Scordo began his career at Credo  in  1981  as  an
admissions coordinator and counselor; and

  WHEREAS,   After   a  brief  interruption  to  pursue  other  career
interests, James P. Scordo realized his true passion was to assist those
overcoming addictions; he returned to Credo in 1983, as director of  its
residential program for adolescents known as The Farm, where he assisted
the  rehabilitation  of  young  men  aged  16 to 20 with substance abuse
issues; and

  WHEREAS, In 1990, James P. Scordo was named Credo's first  executive
director;  in  that role he helped to guide the merger of Credo with the
former Community Center for Alcoholism and Substance Abuse; and

  WHEREAS, In 2016, under  his  leadership,  a  new  opioid  treatment
clinic  was opened, saving many lives and providing a positive influence
for numerous individuals; and

  WHEREAS, James P. Scordo has  earned  the  respect  of  health  care
professionals   throughout  the  Jefferson  County  area,  he  has  also
significantly contributed to a reduction in overdose deaths; and

  WHEREAS, He has clearly had an enduring impact on his  community  by
helping  those  with  addictions  to  redirect their lives in a positive
direction, and accordingly  merits  recognition  and  applause  for  his
impressive dedication to others; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support  their  communities  by

providing their skills and talents to helping others; now, therefore, be
it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James P. Scordo upon the occasion of  his  retirement  after  more
than  three  decades  of  distinguished  service  to the Credo Community
Center for the Treatment  of  Addictions,  and  to  wish  him  continued
success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to James P. Scordo.
