Senate Resolution No. 2107 BY: Senator JACOBS COMMEMORATING the 25th Anniversary of the Elmwood Village Association WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their communities; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Elmwood Village Association; and WHEREAS, Located at the crossroads of a historically significant parkway system and home to an impressive collection of world-class architecture, Elmwood Village is a premier urban, mixed-use neighborhood that dates back to Joseph Ellicott's 1804 plan for the City of Buffalo, New York; and WHEREAS, The Elmwood Village Association is a nonprofit community development organization serving the Elmwood Village in Buffalo, New York; and WHEREAS, Formally incorporated as Forever Elmwood Corporation in November of 1994, the Elmwood Village Association is built by collective efforts of Elmwood Avenue small business owners, property owners, and neighborhood residents to improve quality of life and support the Elmwood Avenue business district; and WHEREAS, With roots extending back into the 1980s, the organization has become the primary vehicle for community engagement shaping the future of this Buffalo neighborhood; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Elmwood Village Association has housed active, community-led committees focusing on economic revitalization, housing code enforcement, urban design, zoning regulations, community events, neighborhood safety, small business marketing and more; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, this vital organization follows the National Main Street Center's Main Street Four-Point Approach with transformation strategies focused on: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization; and WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 25-year history, the Elmwood Village Association has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities which it serves; and WHEREAS, The success of the Elmwood Village Association is in direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Elmwood Village Association; and WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Elmwood Village Association; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to the Elmwood Village Association.
