        HONORING  Kalotta  Hemingway  upon the occasion of
        her designation as  recipient  of  the  Employee  of
        Distinction Award by LeadingAge New York

  WHEREAS,  Individuals  and  organizations  devoted  to improving the
quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity  and
self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and

  WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and
organizations   to   be   recognized   for  the  significance  of  their
contributions and efforts to assist  others  in  developing  the  skills
necessary to be successful, productive citizens; and

  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to honor Kalotta
Hemingway upon the occasion of  her  designation  as  recipient  of  the
Employee  of  Distinction Award by LeadingAge New York, to be celebrated
on Monday, July 8, 2019, at St. Margaret's Center, Albany, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Founded in 1961, LeadingAge New York, formerly the New York
Association of Homes & Services for the Aging,  is  the  only  statewide
organization   representing  the  entire  continuum  of  not-for-profit,
mission-driven and public senior living and services, including  nursing
homes,  home  care  agencies,  senior  housing,  retirement communities,
assisted living, adult  care  facilities,  adult  day  health  care  and
managed long term care; and

  WHEREAS,   LeadingAge   New   York's   nearly   500  not-for-profit,
mission-driven and public provider members serve  an  estimated  500,000
New Yorkers of all ages annually; and

  WHEREAS,  LeadingAge  New  York's  Employee  of  Distinction program
recognizes those who deal with the staffing crisis in long term care  on
a  daily  basis,  while  successfully  facing the challenge of providing
quality care; Kalotta Hemingway is one such individual; and

  WHEREAS, Kalotta Hemingway currently serves as the Registered  Nurse
Unit Manager at St. Margaret's Center in Albany, New York, where she has
worked for more than a decade; easily approachable and always willing to
listen,  she  moved  into  this  supervisory  role  after  serving  as a
direct-care RN; and

  WHEREAS, In this capacity, Kalotta Hemingway has brought her  vision
and  determination  to support all of her staff in providing the highest
quality of  care  to  the  residents  of  this  vital  organization;  in
addition,  she provides direct-care to the residents, caring for them in
a manner which inspires all of those with whom she works; and

  WHEREAS, Rare indeed is  the  occurrence  of  such  a  compassionate
blending  of  strength,  leadership,  intellect,  and commitment as that
demonstrated by Kalotta Hemingway  over  a  lifetime  of  sacrifice  and
dedication to others; and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are  brought  to  our
attention,  they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor  Kalotta  Hemingway  upon  the  occasion  of  her  designation  as
recipient  of  the Employee of Distinction Award by LeadingAge New York;
and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Kalotta Hemingway.
