Senate Resolution No. 2567 BY: Senator BORRELLO HONORING Firefighter Trenwith Young upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition after 60 years of dedicated service to the Belfast Fire Company WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery every day in the course of their duties; and WHEREAS, Volunteer Firefighters exemplify the power of human compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions of the most heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless dedication merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great country; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Firefighter Trenwith Young upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition after 60 years of dedicated service to the Belfast Fire Company; and WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to both his community and his company, Trenwith Young was named the 2019 Fireman of the Year; and WHEREAS, Trenwith Young joined the New Hudson Fire Company in 1959, and transferred to Belfast Fire Company in 1960; throughout his 60 years of service, he held several positions within the Department including: 2nd Assistant Chief, 1962-1964; and 1st Assistant Chief, 1964-1966; Chief from 1966-1968; and President from 1972-1976; and WHEREAS, The son of the late Donald and Roberta Young, Trenwith was born on November 27, 1934, in Black Creek, New York; after graduating from high school in Cuba, New York, he was employed with Acme Electric holding various positions, such as draftsman and battery charger; and WHEREAS, In September of 1969, Firefighter Trenwith Young was appointed New York Fire Instructor for Allegany County and Fire Investigator in 1976 and 1977; also he completed an Arson Investigation course at the Academy of Fire Science in 1976; and WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Dawn; two sons, Donald and Douglas; two daughters, Donna and Deborah (late); three granddaughters, Ashley, Sandi, and Christina; two grandsons, Donald, and Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Lily, Thomas, Ayoras, Madelyn, and Ethan; and WHEREAS, Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride, valor, and integrity; these respected volunteers are often the first to respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill of hazardous materials; and WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need; Trenwith Young is one such firefighter; throughout 60 years of devoted service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire protection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Firefighter Trenwith Young upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition after 60 years of dedicated service to the Belfast Fire Company; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Firefighter Trenwith Young.
