        COMMENDING the New York Immigration Coalition upon
        the  occasion  of  its  continued service to the New
        York immigrant community

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the  communities  across  New  York
State  are  reflective  of  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend the New York Immigration Coalition  upon  the  occasion  of  its
continued service to the New York immigrant community; and

  WHEREAS,  The  New  York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella
policy and advocacy organization which represents over 200 immigrant and
refugee rights groups throughout the State; and

  WHEREAS, The NYIC seeks to fulfill its mission to unite  immigrants,
members,  and  allies  so  all  New Yorkers can thrive through values of
inclusivity, representativeness, fairness, justness, accountability, and
trustworthiness; and

  WHEREAS, Founded in 1987, the NYIC has evolved into a powerful voice
by spearheading innovative policies, promoting and protecting the rights
of  immigrant  communities,  improving  newcomer  access  to   services,
developing  leadership  and capacity, expanding civic participation, and
mobilizing  member  groups  to  respond  to  the  fluctuating  needs  of
immigrant communities; and

  WHEREAS, After a phenomenally successful 2019, which was filled with
many  important  victories  on  behalf  of  New  York's  large immigrant
population, the NYIC is convening its annual Member Congress to kick-off
its 2020 efforts by continuing to promote positive change for all of the
State's immigrant communities; and

  WHEREAS, It is  the  sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  that  those
organizations  which  enhance  the  well-being  and  vitality  of  their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment  to  excellence
certainly  have  earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commend  the  New  York  Immigration  Coalition upon the occasion of its
continued service to the New York immigrant community, and wish it great
success and many more years of prosperity in its service to  the  people
of New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the New York Immigration Coalition.
