        MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
        February  2019,  as  Parent Recognition Month in the
        State of New York

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
celebrate  a  month  that  is  set  aside  to  promote  and raise public
awareness about the role of parents as leaders,  and  as  effective  and
involved  role models for their children, while also recognizing parents
for their vital role in their homes and communities; and

  WHEREAS, This  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to  memorialize
Governor   Andrew   M.  Cuomo  to  proclaim  February  2019,  as  Parent
Recognition Month in  the  State  New  York,  in  conjunction  with  the
observance of National Parent Recognition Month; and

  WHEREAS,  Sponsored  by  the  Child Care Coordinating Council of the
North  Country,  Inc.,  Parent  Recognition  Month   aims   to   promote
responsible   parenting   and  to  recognize  positive  role  models  by
celebrating the special bonds of love between parental figures and their
children; and

  WHEREAS, Parenting requires  support,  courage  and  love;  families
become  stronger  when  parents  gain knowledge and skills which empower
them  to  function  in  meaningful   leadership   roles   within   their
communities; and

  WHEREAS,  Research  has shown that parents are more likely to become
leaders when they feel  accepted,  encouraged  and  supported  by  other
parents  and  professionals,  and  are  recognized for their success and
contributions; and

  WHEREAS, By combining their voices, parents help shape the lives  of
communities,  direct  programs  and policies which impact them, ensuring
the children of today are the citizens and leaders of tomorrow; and

  WHEREAS, Strong and supportive families are truly  the  backbone  of
our  society; Parent Recognition Month strives to promote the importance
of the parents' role in human development,  which  requires  investment,
focus, and commitment; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M.  Cuomo  to  proclaim  February  2019,  as
Parent Recognition Month in the State of New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  copies  of  this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the  State  of
New  York, and the Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country,
Inc.
