Assembly Resolution No. 134

        COMMENDING the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition
        of  New  York  State,  Inc.  upon  the  occasion  of
        celebrating its 30th Anniversary

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize  and
applaud  the efforts of those organizations within the State of New York
which strengthen community-based agencies that provide vital services to
our State's low-and moderate-income neighborhoods and residents; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing  traditions,  this  Legislative  Body  is  justly proud to
commend the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State,  Inc.
(NPCNYS)  and  its  members  upon  the  occasion of celebrating its 30th
Anniversary; and

  WHEREAS, Since 1989, NPCNYS has educated,  empowered,  unified,  and
strengthened  community  organizations  in their provision of affordable
housing and community revitalization; and

  WHEREAS, The supply of safe, decent, healthy, and affordable housing
helps to create positive change in neighborhoods across New York  State;
and

  WHEREAS,  The  success  of  NPCNYS  is  in direct correlation to the
efforts of its Executive Director, Cara Long  Corra,  and  its  members,
whose  involvement in the Coalition is critical in ensuring that low-and
moderate-income neighborhoods and residents have a voice and  a  say  in
defining  and  solving  affordable housing and community revitalizations
challenges; and

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to  applaud  those
organizations  which  enhance  the  safety,  security, and well-being of
neighborhoods and  communities,  and  have  demonstrated  through  their
programs,  services, and activities their deep and abiding commitment to
the residents of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
commend  the Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State, Inc.
upon the occasion of celebrating its 30th Anniversary; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted   to  Cara  Long  Corra,  Executive  Director,  Neighborhood
Preservation Coalition of New York State, Inc.
