        RECOGNIZING Friday, October 25, 2019, as Real Kids
        Wear  Pink  Day, and paying special tribute to Carli
        O'Hara, founder of this vital campaign

  WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative  Body  to  recognize
days  that are set aside to increase awareness of serious illnesses that
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

  WHEREAS, It is the further sense of this  Legislative  Body  to  pay
tribute  to  those  young  people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and  who  serve  as  role
models for their peers; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this  Legislative  Body  is  justly  proud  to
recognize  Friday,  October 25, 2019, as Real Kids Wear Pink Day, and to
pay special tribute to Carli O'Hara, founder of this vital campaign; and

  WHEREAS,  Carli  O'Hara  is  the  founder  of  the  American  Cancer
Society's  campaign,  Real  Kids Wear Pink, which started in the Capital
Region, and currently has grown to  be  adopted  in  cities  across  the
Nation; and

  WHEREAS, A student at Cohoes Middle School, Carli O'Hara watched her
father  participate  in the Real Men Wear Pink campaign and came up with
the idea because she knew that if she brought other kids  together  they
could also make a difference in the fight against breast cancer; and

  WHEREAS, Carli O'Hara, who was inspired by her grandmother, a breast
cancer  survivor,  is  committed  to continuing her fund raising efforts
with the hope that someday no other grandmother has to  hear  the  words
"you have breast cancer"; and

  WHEREAS,  With  an official Real Kids Wear Pink Day, this young girl
of remarkable distinction is confident that this  day  will  bring  kids
across  the  region together to raise both funds and awareness, and show
them, they really can make a difference; and

  WHEREAS, When campaigns of such noble aims and  accomplishments  are
brought  to  our  attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
recognize  Friday,  October 25, 2019, as Real Kids Wear Pink Day, and to
pay special tribute to Carli O'Hara; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Carli O'Hara.
