Assembly Resolution No. 544 BY: M. of A. Heastie HONORING the memory of the deceased members of the New York State Assembly, in recognition of their careers in public service WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and character of life in this great Empire State is enriched by the efforts of those individuals who commit their lives to public service; and WHEREAS, The New York State Assembly, representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this day with profound sorrow at the recent deaths of members of the Assembly, and is further moved to recognize their achievements; and WHEREAS, Seymour Boyers, who served in the 24th Assembly District from 1967-1968, died on January 7, 2019; and WHEREAS, Jose Peralta, who served in the 39th Assembly District from 2003-2010, died on November 21, 2018; and WHEREAS, Mel Miller, Assembly Speaker, who served in the 44th Assembly District from 1971-1991, died on March 8, 2019; and WHEREAS, Guy V. Molinari, who served in the 60th Assembly District from 1975-1980, died on July 25, 2018; and WHEREAS, James H. Tully, who served in the 61st Assembly District in 1966, died on June 10, 2018; and WHEREAS, Marie Runyon, who served in the 70th Assembly District in 1975, died on October 7, 2018; and WHEREAS, Gregory Young, who served in the 88th Assembly District from 1983-1992, died on September 3, 2018; and WHEREAS, Chloe O'Neil, who served in the 112th Assembly District from 1993-1998, died on November 15, 2018; and WHEREAS, Thomas Hanna, who served in the 130th Assembly District from 1973-1982, died on April 26, 2019; and WHEREAS, James F. Nagle, who served in the 135th Assembly District from 1977-1992, died on March 26, 2019; and WHEREAS, Daniel B. Walsh, who served in the 149th Assembly District from 1973-1987, died on December 21, 2018; and WHEREAS, It is with hope that future generations understand the value of public service to the citizens of this great Empire State, while this Legislative Body recognizes these former members of the New York State Assembly; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor the memory of the 2018-2019 deceased members of the New York State Assembly, in recognition of their careers in public service; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed be transmitted to the families of the aforementioned Assembly members.
