        HONORING  Jillian  Shaver upon the occasion of her
        designation as recipient of the 2019 Amelia  Earhart
        Woman  of  Achievement  Award  by  the Zonta Club of
        Oswego on June 18, 2019

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the  communities  across  New  York
State  are  reflective  of  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who devoted themselves to the welfare of the  community  and
its citizenry; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jillian Shaver upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of  the
2019  Amelia  Earhart  Woman  of  Achievement Award by the Zonta Club of
Oswego to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Tuesday, June 18,  2019,
at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, Oswego, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  Since  1985,  the  Zonta  Club of Oswego has presented the
prestigious Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award to a woman who has
dedicated herself to her community and who serves as a  role  model  for
young women; Jillian Shaver is one such individual; and

  WHEREAS,  Originally  from  Connecticut,  Jillian Shaver studied and
earned  her  degree  in  child  development  and  psychology  at  George
Washington  University  before  residing  in  various  states  with  her
husband, an Oswego native and United States Naval Officer; and

  WHEREAS, In 2012, Jillian Shaver and her  young  family  settled  in
Oswego,  New  York,  where she worked tirelessly to build the Children's
Museum of Oswego (CMOO), truly dedicating herself to her  community  and
providing  a  fun  developmental opportunity for children to explore and
learn about the world around them; and

  WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Jillian Shaver, the Children's
Museum of Oswego not only offers the museum in the center of  the  city,
but  also  brings  exhibits  to  the community in the Children's Park at
Harborfest, Oswego Farmers Market, and other events throughout the year;
and

  WHEREAS, In addition to her  work  with  the  Children's  Museum  of
Oswego,  Jillian  Shaver  gives  of  her  time  and  energies to Trinity
Catholic School, Harborfest Children's Park Committee,  United  Way  and
the Literacy Council; and

  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed  is  the  impressive  dedication  shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jillian Shaver has  displayed
throughout her life; and

  WHEREAS,  With  her  throughout have been her husband, and their two
children, who have all shown her love and support  and  rejoice  in  her
many achievements; and

  WHEREAS,  It  has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to  honor  and  support  those  individuals  who  have  displayed  their
commitment  to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this  tribute  to
Jillian  Shaver,  that  future  generations  may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent  deeds,  and  the  respect  and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jillian Shaver upon the occasion of her designation  as  recipient
of  the 2019 Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award by the Zonta Club
of Oswego on June 18, 2019; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Jillian Shaver.
