Assembly Resolution No. 639

        CONGRATULATING  Ryan  S.  Harris,  Scholar Athlete
        Award recipient, in recognition of his many academic
        and sports accomplishments

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in  accord
with  its  long-standing  traditions,  to  honor the achievements of its
young  citizens  and  leaders   of   tomorrow,   whose   character   and
accomplishments  exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great
State and Nation; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate  Ryan
Harris,  Scholar  Athlete  Award  recipient,  in recognition of his many
academic and sports accomplishments; and

  WHEREAS, Ryan S. Harris has truly distinguished himself as  a  young
man of superlative ability, talent, and maturity, establishing standards
of   excellence   and   achievement,   purposefulness   of   life,   and
responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years; and

  WHEREAS, A student  from  Sidney  Central  School,  Ryan  S.  Harris
participates  in  the  HC  Welding  Technology  Program  at the Delaware
Chenango Madison Otsego BOCES where he was named Outstanding Student  of
the  Year  for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school year, and received two
perfect attendance awards;  he  was  also  inducted  into  the  National
Technical  Honor  Society at the Robert W. Harrold Education Campus, and
was chosen to represent his BOCES in the Skills USA Competition; and

  WHEREAS, An exceptional athlete, Ryan S. Harris was the  quarterback
for  his  football  team,  played  soccer  and  was  a key player on the
basketball team; he  was  named  Outstanding  Football  Athlete  by  the
football  coaches  and  was  selected  to  the N.Y. State Sports Writers
Association All-Stars Second Team; and

  WHEREAS, In addition, Ryan S. Harris broke four Sidney  High  School
records and one Section 4 record and was named Honorable Mention for the
Section  4  All  Stars  Basketball  Team  and  Athlete  of  the Year for
Football; and

  WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Ryan S. Harris plans  to
attend Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in the Structural and Pipe
Welding  Program  in  September  of  2019; after the 38-week program, he
plans to work on either a pipeline or  weld  sanitary  pipe,  eventually
operating  his  own  company  one day; with his drive and commitment, he
will surely make a positive contribution to the field and the future  of
welding in the United States; and

  WHEREAS,  An  outstanding  role  model  for  his classmates, Ryan S.
Harris has brought honor to his family, school, and community; and

  WHEREAS, Ryan S. Harris may stand with pride  in  his  achievements,
experiencing  the  satisfaction  of  his  labors  and  the  joy  of  his
accomplishments, eager to face the challenge of new  experiences  as  he
continues his education; and


  WHEREAS,  Ryan  S.  Harris  represents the potential inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is  pleased  to
honor  this  young  man, recognizing his achievements and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Ryan  S.  Harris,  Scholar  Athlete  Award  recipient,  in
recognition of his many academic and sports accomplishments, and to wish
him well in his future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Ryan S. Harris.
