Assembly Resolution No. 855

        EXPRESSING sincere, heartfelt condolences to those
        New  Yorkers, and those around the United States and
        the world who have lost their lives to COVID-19

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body, representing the people of the State
of  New  York,  is  deeply  moved  to  express  its  sincere,  heartfelt
condolences to those New Yorkers, and those around the United States and
the world who have lost their lives to COVID-19; and

  WHEREAS,  The  Coronavirus  Disease  2019,  a  global  pandemic, has
created an unprecedented  health  crisis  that  has  caused  significant
economic   risks   and   harm  to  the  well-being  of  the  businesses,
organizations and citizens in New York State; and

  WHEREAS, More than 5.3 million cases of COVID-19 have been  reported
worldwide,  with at least 342,000 deaths; to date, the State of New York
has 358,000 confirmed cases and 23,195 deaths; and

  WHEREAS, During these unprecedented  times,  this  Legislative  Body
recognizes  the  devastating  loss  of  life  from this life-threatening
virus, and shares the grief and heartache with the  family  members  and
loved ones of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19; and

  WHEREAS,  Each  and every New Yorker has been affected in one way or
another by knowing someone who has suffered  under  the  guise  of  this
horrific  pandemic;  the  memory  of those who have died will forever be
imprinted in the hearts of all the citizens of this great Empire  State;
now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
express sincere, heartfelt condolences to those New Yorkers,  and  those
around  the  United  States  and  the world who have lost their lives to
COVID-19; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted  to  the  families of all those who have died from the novel
coronavirus.
