LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to waiving certain fees associated with the issuance of an enhanced driver's license The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 503 of the vehicle and traffic 2 law, as amended by chapter 548 of the laws of 1986, is amended to read 3 as follows: 4 3. Waiver of fee. (a) The commissioner may waive the payment of fees 5 required by subdivision two of this section if the applicant: 6 (i) is an inmate in an institution under the jurisdiction of a state 7 department or agency, or 8 (ii) is a victim of crime and the driver's license or learner's permit 9 applied for is a replacement for one that was lost or destroyed as a 10 result of the crime. 11 (b) The commissioner shall waive any additional fee associated with 12 the request for an enhanced driver's license if such request is made 13 within thirty days of the issuance or reissuance of a standard driver's 14 license. For purposes of this paragraph, "additional fee" shall mean any 15 fee in excess of the standard fee assessed for such enhanced driver's 16 license. 17 § 2.
