        Introduced  by  Sen. LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to providing  a
          vehicle  registration  refund for persons seventy-five years of age or
          older who surrender their registration
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  428 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
     3    2-a. Upon the surrender to the commissioner of the  number  plates  or
     4  plate issued for a vehicle registered under the provisions of this chap-
     5  ter and the furnishing of proof satisfactory to the commissioner and the
     6  state comptroller that the owner of the vehicle is seventy-five years of
     7  age  or  older,  and  that  the  registration of such vehicle is in full
     8  effect, there shall be refunded to such owner a sum  equal  to  as  many
     9  twelfths  of  the  fee paid for the registration of the vehicle as there
    10  are full calendar months in the registration year following the date  of
    11  the receipt of the number plates or plate, less the sum of one dollar.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
