STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5214 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE April 16, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sens. BROOKS, ORTT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs AN ACT to direct the division of veterans affairs and the division of the budget to conduct a study on veterans services provided to resi- dents of the state The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. 1. (a) The division of veterans affairs, in consultation 2 with the division of the budget, shall conduct a study on veterans 3 services provided to residents of New York state. 4 (b) Such study shall include, but not be limited to: 5 i. a list of all veterans services agencies and not-for-profit organ- 6 izations which provide services to veterans; 7 ii. the counties served by each veterans services agency or not-for- 8 profit organization; and 9 iii. the services provided by each veterans services agency or not- 10 for-profit organization. 11 2. On or before one year from the effective date of this act, the 12 division of veterans affairs shall submit such study to the governor, 13 the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the assembly, all 14 members of the senate committee on veterans, homeland security and mili- 15 tary affairs, and the assembly committee on veterans affairs. 16 3. The division of veterans affairs and the division of the budget may 17 request, and are authorized to receive, any information from any state 18 agency that is relevant and material to the completion of such study. 19 Such information received by the department of state shall be subject to 20 the same requirements for confidentiality and limitations on use, if 21 any, as are applicable to such state agency's use of such information. 22 § 2.
