STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5295 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE April 23, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sens. RIVERA, LITTLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend chapter 192 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing certain health care professionals licensed to practice in other juris- dictions to practice in this state in connection with an event sanc- tioned by New York Road Runners, in relation to including the World Triathlon Corporation and extending the provisions thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Chapter 192 of the laws of 2011, relating to authorizing 2 certain health care professionals licensed to practice in other juris- 3 dictions to practice in this state in connection with an event sanc- 4 tioned by New York Road Runners, as amended by chapter 69 of the laws of 5 2018, is amended to read as follows: 6 Section 1. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, any 7 person who is licensed to practice as a physician, physician's assist- 8 ant, massage therapist, physical therapist, chiropractor, dentist, opto- 9 metrist, nurse, nurse practitioner, emergency medical technician, certi- 10 fied athletic trainer or podiatrist in another state or territory, who 11 is in good standing in such state or territory and who has been 12 appointed by the New York Road Runners or World Triathlon Corporation to 13 provide professional services at an event in this state sanctioned by 14 the New York Road Runners or World Triathlon Corporation, may provide 15 such professional services to athletes and team personnel registered to 16 train at a location in this state or registered to compete in an event 17 conducted under the sanction of the New York Road Runners or World 18 Triathlon Corporation in the state without first being licensed pursuant 19 to the provisions of title 8 of the education law. Such services shall 20 be provided only four days before through one day after each of the 21 [following events:EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD11163-03-9S. 5295 2 1a. the Staten Island half marathon scheduled to be held on October 14,22018;3b. the New York city marathon scheduled to be held on November 4,42018;5c. the Brooklyn half marathon scheduled to be held on May 19, 2018;6d. the Bronx half marathon scheduled to be held on September 30, 2018;7e. the Queens 10k scheduled to be held on June 16, 2018; and8f. the New York city half marathon scheduled to be held on March 18,92018] events sanctioned by either the New York Road Runners or World 10 Triathlon Corporation scheduled to be held between January 1, 2019 and 11 December 31, 2025. 12 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 13 deemed repealed [January 31, 2019] December 31, 2025. 14 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to 15 have been in full force and effect on and after January 31, 2019; 16 provided that the amendments to section 1 of chapter 192 of the laws of 17 2011, made by section one of this act, shall not affect the expiration 18 of such section and shall be deemed repealed therewith.
