        Introduced by Sen. BAILEY -- (at request of the Office of Court Adminis-
          tration)  --  read  twice  and ordered printed, and when printed to be
          committed to the Committee on Codes
        AN ACT to amend the criminal  procedure  law,  in  relation  to  verdict
          sheets
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 310.20 of the  criminal  procedure
     2  law,  as  amended by chapter 588 of the laws of 2002, is amended to read
     3  as follows:
     4    2. A written list  prepared  by  the  court  containing  the  offenses
     5  submitted  to  the  jury  by  the  court  in its charge and the possible
     6  verdicts thereon. Whenever the court submits two or more counts  [charg-
     7  ing  offenses  set  forth in the same article of the law], the court may
     8  set forth the following notations by which the  counts  may  be  distin-
     9  guished:  dates[,];  names  of  complainants; locations; types, value or
    10  amounts of property, objects or substances; manner of sexual contact; or
    11  specific statutory language, without defining the terms[, by  which  the
    12  counts  may  be  distinguished]; provided, however, that the court shall
    13  instruct the jury in its charge that the sole purpose of  the  notations
    14  is to distinguish between the counts; and
    15    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
