          printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government

        AN ACT in relation to removing library taxes of the Shelter Rock library
          district from real property located in that portion  of  such  library
          district that is located within the Bryant library district

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision  of  law,  the  Shelter
     2  Rock library district, located in the town of North Hempstead, county of
     3  Nassau,  shall not impose any library tax for the support of the library
     4  district upon any parcel of real property located  within  such  library
     5  district  which  is  also located within the Bryant library district and
     6  subject to real property taxes to support the Bryant  library  district.
     7  For  all purposes, any real property removed from the library portion of
     8  Shelter Rock library district taxes pursuant to this act shall be deemed
     9  to be within the service area of the Bryant library district established
    10  pursuant to an absolute charter granted  by  the  board  of  regents  on
    11  behalf  of the education department and shall be subject to taxation for
    12  the support of such district.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to assess-
    14  ment rolls prepared on the basis of taxable status dates occurring on or
    15  after such date.
