        Introduced  by Sen. CARLUCCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Health

        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to the  screening  of
          children for eating disorders

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding  a  new  section
     2  2500-l to read as follows:
     3    § 2500-l. Eating disorders; screening of children. 1. The commissioner
     4  shall establish, for use by pediatric primary care providers, best prac-
     5  tice  protocols  for  early  screening of children for eating disorders.
     6  Such protocols shall incorporate standards and guidelines established by
     7  the American Academy of Pediatrics, and shall be updated at least  bien-
     8  nially.
     9    2.  The commissioner shall promulgate any rules and regulations neces-
    10  sary to implement the provisions of this section.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
