STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 6035 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN SENATE May 16, 2019 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SAVINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to rates of fare on the metropolitan transportation authority The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 1266 of the public authorities law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 19 to read as follows: 3 19. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the authority and any 4 of its subsidiary corporations shall establish and implement a no fare 5 program for uniformed corrections officers employed by the city of New 6 York. The no fare program established and implemented pursuant to this 7 subdivision shall be in operation during all hours in which such author- 8 ity provides railroad, subway and/or omnibus services, and such program 9 shall not be limited in operation to off-peak hours or to any other 10 hours designated by the authority or its subsidiary corporations. Offi- 11 cers are not required to be in uniform when participating in the 12 program. The chairman shall establish and implement all rules and regu- 13 lations necessary to effectuate this subdivision. 14 § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- 15 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
