        Introduced  by  Sen.  JORDAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules

        AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation  to  qualifications
          for holding certain offices in the city of Saratoga Springs

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 70 to read as follows:
     3    70. In the city of Saratoga Springs, in the county  of  Saratoga,  the
     4  provisions  of  this  section requiring a person to be a resident of the
     5  political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he
     6  or she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions are
     7  required to be exercised, shall not prevent a person  from  holding  the
     8  office  of  deputy mayor, deputy commissioner of finance, deputy commis-
     9  sioner of public works, deputy commissioner of public safety  or  deputy
    10  commissioner  of accounts, provided that such person resides in Saratoga
    11  county; provided, however that any person performing such  functions  or
    12  holding  such  office in any other city shall be a resident of such city
    13  unless otherwise provided by law.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
