        Introduced  by Sen. HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Education

        AN ACT in relation to providing that certain schools to receive  tuition
          payments  from  the  state  for  any  period  of time such schools are
          required to close in response to the outbreak of  coronavirus  disease
          2019 (COVID-19)

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of article 81 of the  educa-
     2  tion  law,  8  NYCRR  175.6(b)(4) or any other provision of law, rule or
     3  regulation to the contrary, any school created pursuant to  chapter  853
     4  of  the  laws  of  1976  and  commonly referred to as 853 schools, shall
     5  continue to receive tuition payments from the state for  any  period  of
     6  time  such  schools are required to close in response to the outbreak of
     7  coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
