          printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government
        AN ACT to amend the Nassau county civil divisions act,  in  relation  to
          the  Volunteer  and  Exempt  Fireman's  Benevolent Association of East
          Meadow, Nassau county
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1. Section 626.6 of the Nassau county civil divisions act, as
     2  added by chapter 69 of the laws of 1940, is amended to read as follows:
     3    § 626.6 Precept for payment of foreign fire insurance  premium  taxes.
     4  Such  corporation  shall  collect  and there shall be paid to it all tax
     5  imposed by section [five hundred  and  fifty-three]  nine  thousand  one
     6  hundred  four  of the insurance law, for fire department use and benefit
     7  upon premiums for insurance against loss  or  damage  by  fire  covering
     8  property  situated  within  the East Meadow fire district of the town of
     9  Hempstead, Nassau county, New York, and within any duly organized terri-
    10  tory in which the East Meadow fire department may be obligated to render
    11  fire protection. The officer  of  said  corporation  designated  by  its
    12  by-laws  to  collect  and  receive the aforesaid tax shall have the same
    13  powers as provided by law for the treasurer of a  fire  department  with
    14  respect  to  such collection and receipt. Such corporation shall also be
    15  entitled to receive a share of the tax imposed by section [five  hundred
    16  and  fifty-four]  nine  thousand  one hundred five of the insurance law,
    17  based upon the business written in the territory with respect  to  which
    18  it  is  entitled  to  collect  and  receive  the tax under section [five
    19  hundred and fifty-three] nine thousand one hundred four of the insurance
    20  law. Such taxes shall only be used [for the care and relief of  disabled
    21  or  indigent  volunteer  and  exempt  firemen and their families] by the
    22  corporation in the furtherance of its purposes as set forth  in  section
    23  626.2 of this article.
    24    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
