| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Congratulating the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce on |
2 | the 125th anniversary of its founding. |
3 | WHEREAS, On Tuesday evening, December 15, 1885, a group of |
4 | Williamsport businessmen met in the Common Council Chambers of |
5 | the city government to adopt bylaws and elect the first officers |
6 | of the Williamsport Board of Trade, thus starting an |
7 | organization that has continued to the present day and is now |
8 | known as the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce; and |
9 | WHEREAS, The board was organized to promote business, trade |
10 | and manufacturing in the region, and, over the years, the |
11 | mission of the board has not changed; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Its leadership and vision have taken the region |
13 | through various economic periods of growth and recession, |
14 | calling upon the creativity and innovation of its members to |
15 | maintain a strong business climate and a local economy that |
16 | provides jobs for people; and |

1 | WHEREAS, On December 15, 2010, the Chamber of Commerce will |
2 | mark its 125th anniversary, culminating a year-long celebration |
3 | of the activities and people who have helped the chamber in its |
4 | efforts to improve the region; therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the |
6 | Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce on the 125th |
7 | anniversary of its founding. |
