A RESOLUTION
Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin
Wall.
WHEREAS, On November 10, 1989, the destruction of the Berlin
Wall began; and
WHEREAS, The wall had been erected in 1963 by the Soviet
Union to isolate East Berlin from West Berlin; and
WHEREAS, Destruction of the wall symbolized the reunification
of Germany, which had been sectored by the Allies at the end of
World War II; and
WHEREAS, In the 20 years that have passed since the wall's
destruction, a generation has grown up in Germany without Soviet
rule and oppression, and the economic rebuilding of the former
East Germany has been accomplished; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
